From Pod To Pad ...

After the iPod , apple is back to revolutionize entertainment with their new iPad.

The apple iPad is the second type of tablet computer developed by Apple computers and it replaces the Newton, which was Apples first tablet style computer. It was first announced in January 27, 2010 and it will be available for customers in March and April, depending on which model you want. It has been described as a product that is a cross between an iPhone and a laptop computer. The function of the iPad is very similar to the iPhone because they share the same operating system. The user interface has been designed to take advantage of a larger screen.

The iPad has a large LED backlit multi- touch display is 9.7in and the pixel resolution is 1024x768. It will have 16 to 64 gigs of flash memory, a processor with 1-gigahertz processing power called the Apple A4, blue tooth 2.1 with a 30pin dock connector which will enable you to sync with iTunes and allow you to connect various wired accessories. There have been 2 models announced so far, one of them will have 802.11n Wi-Fi and the other one will be 802.11n Wi-Fi with 3G capability and assisted GPS. This product will be able to use iBookstore service and companion iBooks eBookreading application the iPad is comparable to Amazons “Kindle”

The history of the iPad actually goes back to the early 1990’s when Apple released the Newton MessagePad 100. This was apples first foray into tablet style computers and it was produced all the way up to the late 1990’s. In 2007 apple re-entered the market with the best selling iPhone, which ultimately paved the way for the iPad. It has a super fast CPU which makes for some fast web page loading capability and scrolling has no problems. It has the capability to run all of iPods applications right out of the box. The iPad has shown to be more useful compared to the competitions such as the “Kindle”.

The iPad uses lithium-ion polymer batteries and if the battery does not hold sufficient charge it will replace the entire device for a small fee of 99 dollars. There are many useful optional accessories that come with it such as a keyboard dock, a case which can also be used to position it in various angles and a camera connection kit with a USB type connector and also a USB power adaptor. The iBooks application means that you will be able to download iBookstore. Many of the major book publishers such as Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon&Schuster, and MacMillan have agreed to publish for iPad.

The price of this device is considered to be modest especially for its capabilities, because ultimately it is about the software. This device is not about the hardware features and build; it is about the software and user interface. People who have used it say that any criticism will disappear after you use it and see the speed at which it responds and how user friendly the interface is and not to mention the richness and detail of the display. Some critics have called it the most user friendly computer device to come out in recent times. As an added bonus, for those of you who own an iPhone, you will find the iPad to be a familiar piece of equipment because of some of their commonalities. All in all the iPad has shown to be a great device with some impressive pedigree.

My Name Is Khan

My name Is Khan is movie that makes you want to say many things but leaves you speech less. If a whole film can be can be hoisted up by the brilliance of a single guy, MNIK is an excellent example of it. Shahrukh Khan portrays the protagonist with so much reality that it solely forms the frame work for the whole movie.
More over it is joy to see Karan Johar doing movie on important topics rather that masala "problematic" family stories. And i do feel that he has done quite a good job to adopt transfer such a sensitive subject from paper to the screen. But i feel that each scene lacks that touch of perfection that you see with Raju Hirani's movies.

I would also like to appreciate the camera work. Especially that shot of flood scene was very realistic.

But then MNIK is very unbelievable at many instances.
A whole town coming with rescue items??? A bit too over the top.

But the line:"My Name Is Khan and I am Not a terrorist!" Rings in your ears hours after movie.A Movie that is a full on for first watch and leaves you with a swollen heart.

Rating 3.75/5

Japanese Wife: From Book To Screen

Cast : Rahul Bose , Raima Sen , Chigasu Takaku

When i first read the book by Kunal Basu , i was really touched , it had those moment , very painful. The Adaptation  of the book , Japanese Wife is quite OK but is very dragging. Only the most patient of the viewers would find it fruitful.

Snehamoy (Rahul Bose), who teaches arithmetic at school in a village in the Sundarbans, gets married to his Japanese pen friend Miyagi (Chigasu Takaku). The ‘marriage’ consists of a silver ring that Miyagi sends him, and a pair of white conch-shell bangles he sends her. Their principal way of communication is through letters – 637 of them spread over 17 years.
Snehamoy takes up tuitions to fund his postal expenses. The letters are filled with mistakes in English grammar, recited in their soft, child-like voiceovers. The innocence of their content spells out a delicate love story.
Four telephone calls are also incomplete between the two lovers. At Gosaba, the nearest town across the river Matla, signals are weak. Other ways of contact are through gifts – simple ones like a yellow sari and a blouse that Snehamoy’s modest means will allow, and lots of souvenirs from Miyagi.
The film opens with a 40-plus Snehamoy, his hair streaked in white, looking back on memories of his marriage and his wife who he has never met. The scene cuts to a huge carton covered with colourful labels and Snehamoy’s name and address printed in bold black in one corner, arriving first on a boat, then in a van and then to his house, chased by curious village kids. It is a present from Miyagi on their 15th wedding anniversary. Filled with colourful Japanese kites of all shapes and sizes, the carton is metaphor of this sweet, colourful and unique love story.
Rahul as Snehamoy deconstructs himself to slip under the skin of an introvert, shy and reclusive arithmetic teacher who suddenly discovers life and vigour in a kite fight triggered on by a small boy. This is Rahul's career-best film till date.
Ditto for Moushumi Chatterjee as Mashi. She ages from a young, married woman to a mature, simple widow, speaking twenty to the dozen in her dokhno accent, her talkative nature relieving the silence of Snehamoy and Sandhya.
Raima Sen emotes more with her face, her attitude, and her eyes than through speech. Chigasu Takaku’s soft, lisping English in the voiceover is complemented by her delicate, fragile, sad and lonely looks, especially in her home setting.
The kite fight highlights also a colourful and fun-filled relief in an otherwise sad film.
Cinematographer Anoy Goswami and art director Gautam Basu invest the film with rich visuals, both indoors and on location. Sagar Desai’s background score is soft and subtle to fit into the delicate, romantic mood of the story.
If you are looking for logic, there is none. Aparna Sen weaves a beautiful tale of love through a little fantasy, a lot of innocence and some exuberance. The Japanese Wife is a tribute to love in its purest form and a tribute to the lost art of writing letters as well.

Bucket List ...... Very Emotional

Cast Morgan Freeman , Jack Nicholson

When you suddenly hear of a movie having 2 old people suffering from terminal cancer, you wouldn't be much enthusiastic about the movie, but Bucket list is one of those movie that is totally worth it.....

The geezers chafing at death’s doorstep are Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman), cancer patients who meet cute in the room they share in a hospital owned by Edward. A greedy billionaire health care mogul, Edward is a victim of his own ruthless cost-cutting program that decrees two to a room in his cramped establishment.

They start to introspect and make a list of things they want to do before death, "The Bucket List",
Given less than a year to live, Edward and Carter flee the hospital to board Edward’s private jet for a final blowout underwritten by Edward.
Along the way they become best pals who help each other learn the usual lessons about living life to the fullest. The movie strenuously denies medical reality. As they undertake their journey, both men, in temporary remission, appear as robust as the rejuvenated seniors in “Cocoon.”

Their initial adventures, like sky diving and race car driving, are high-adrenaline stunts embraced with macho zeal; they even visit a tattoo parlor. As they follow an itinerary that takes them to the south of France, the Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Himalayas and Hong Kong, these stopovers, obviously filmed on a soundstage, have all the reality of snapshots photographed in front of travel posters.

Along the journey  both of them become a part of each others lives and and we see them being influenced by each others characters .

The lead actors couldn't have been better. The cast was well chosen and performed exceptionally well. Freeman with his wise, Humorous and "godly" presence makes the whole movie seep into the viewers soul.
A movie, that is very emotional but not too "dramatic".  One of the few movies that made me cry....
