PinkPanther2

Cast : Steve Martin, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Andy Garcia, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno

Steve martin(JAQUES CLOUSSEAU) is back with The old french accent and slapstick comedy but in reality this time it misfires. The whole movie seems to be undermined by the huge success of the first Pink panther movie.

Stacked with impressive actors who spend pretty much the entire duration of the film looking embarrassed at Steve Martin's slapstick antics, The Pink Panther 2 is the kind of movie that might appeal to eight and nine year-olds who don't know any better.

Clousseau must lead a dream team of international detectives to pin down an thief who has made off with the the Pope's ring, and other priceless articles including the coveted Pink Panther diamond. The whole movie revolves arround the dream team's efforts to obtain back the ring with clousseau embarrassing them at every moment.

Andy Garcia and Alfred Molina play members of the dream team(the detective team), while Emily Mortimer returns as Clousseau's shy secretary and love interest, and Jean Reno as his sidekick; John Cleese steps in as Clousseau's exasperated boss, Jeremy Irons as the chief suspect in these thefts, and Lily Tomlin as a sensitivity teacher who has trouble ridding Clousseau of his prejudices. There's also Aishwarya rai Bachchan who appears as the stunning special agent Sonia Sondres, and to be entirely fair she does as good a job as anyone else in this film. Landing a part that comes with a surprise twist, Aishwarya entirely succeeds in making her presence felt in this ensemble piece.

The Pink Panther 2 isn't all bad, there is pleasure to be had in some of the smarter scenes in the film, especially those between Clousseau and Lily Tomlin's character. Look for that bit in which she tests him by narrating a provocative tale, or the one in which she bickers with him over gaping at a pretty colleague - it's moments like this that make this a not entirely unwatchable film.

It is not entirely not-watchable , and may even make a good one for easy viewing but as compared to the first movie its just plain drab.

Rating:2.5/5(watchable if nothing else to do)
